Welcome to Year 4!

Important Information
My name is Miss Owen and I have the great pleasure of teaching Year 4 this year. I am sure the children and I will have a great time on our new learning journey supported by Mrs Wright (Teaching Assistant).
Please visit our page often to see what we are learning over each term. There will also be links to our class letters which can be downloaded should you want a paper copy.
I promote an open door policy, any concerns, questions or worries please come and see me. I look forward to working in partnership with you, to help your child be the very best they can.
The school day:
Magic Breakfast will be available for the children from 8:35am when our door opens.
Registration will then take place at 8:45am
School ends at 3.15pm and the children should be collected from the Lower Key Stage 2 door.
Reading: Please support your child to develop their reading skills by hearing your child read at least 3 times a week. Talk about their book and ask questions to develop their understanding. Please ensure you log your child reading in their reading record each time you hear them read. Please encourage your child to engage with Lexia online as much as possible.
If your child reads 3 or more times in a week they will be entered into our weekly reading raffle.
Spellings: 10 spellings will be sent home weekly and should be practiced regularly at home. Children will be tested on these in our spelling progress checks..
Times Tables: Each child has their own login to Times Tables Rockstars. Children should access this website 3 times per week with each session lasting 10 minutes or more. This will be monitored online weekly. There will be a times table test every Thursday. Other Maths skills will be supported through My Maths online.
PE: PE takes place on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child has their full kit (black shorts/joggers, white T shirt and trainers) for PE and swimming lessons. Currently, the children may come into school dressed in thier PE uniform on their PE day.
Water Bottles and Snacks: Children are allowed to bring a water bottle into school with them. This must be clearly labelled with their name and will be sent home from school with them at the end of every day. Children are also allowed to bring in a healthy snack for break time. Friday is treat day. Children aer allowed to bring in a small treat for snack ideally 100kcal or less.
