Sports Premium

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding will be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

Here are some of the ways that St. Bridget’s have been spending the sports premium-

High Quality Physical Education: Raising standards of all our children in Physical education.

Employing PE specialists and qualified sports coaches to work alongside teachers to increase their subject knowledge and confidence in PE.
CPD opportunities for teachers in national and bespoke programmes in PE and Sport.
Providing cover staff to release teachers for professional development in PE and Sport.
Employing specialist coaches and providing professional development for staff to lead after-school sports clubs.
Development of student leadership programmes.
Purchasing specialist equipment and teaching resources.
Competitive School Sport: Increasing pupils’ participation in extra- curricular activities.

Providing competitive opportunities- Inter school competition – organised and delivered at local level.
Delivery of virtual competitions.
Healthy Active Lifestyles:  Ensuring all our children have access to regular exercise.

Providing after school sporting opportunities for ‘inactive’ young people.
Opportunities for pupils to become Active Leaders.
Health and Safety training - Offering pupils bike ability training.
