PE at St Bridget's

Intent

A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

Implementation

At St. Bridget’s we teach PE through the use of REAL PE which is a unique, child-centred approach that transforms how we teach PE to engage and challenge EVERY child in primary school.

It provides fun and simple to follow Primary PE to support children in Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 achieve in PE, Gymnastics and Dance.

Children focus on the development of agility, balance and coordination, healthy competition and cooperative learning through a unique approach to teaching and learning in PE.

Effective expenditure of the Sports Premium ensures that all children have access to 60 active minutes per day and experience the broader fields of sport competition. Our after school clubs provide children with a variety of sport and activity to try and develop their skills in.

Impact

Children will:

  • Develop a life long love of physical activity
  • Improve and know how to improve their health and fitness
  • Increase self esteem
  • Gain more self awareness

Autumn and Spring Primary Ability Days

A huge thank you and well done to the children who represented our school at the Autumn Primary Ability Day at Orford Jubilee Hub this November and again in March. It was great to be back out and we couldn't be more proud of everyone for giving it their all at exciting sports they tried for the first time. We participated in new age curling, golf, table cricket and boccia. Wear your medals with pride!

Amazing News for PE!
