Welcome to the Year 5 class page!

My name is Miss Skerratt and I have the great pleasure of teaching Year 5  this year. I am looking forward to an exciting year of learning with the children supported by Mr Jones and Mrs Mcroy  (Teaching Assistants). Mrs Williamson will also be teaching in Year 5 on a Thursday morning.

On this page you will find lots of information and pictures of the exciting things that we have been doing in class. It will also be updated regularly with class news and links to websites that you may find helpful to support your child's learning.

Should you have any questions, worries or concerns, please come and see me or email me. I look forward to working in partnership with you to help your child achieve the best they can.

Important Information

Entering and Exiting St Bridget's

Year 5 Parents and pupils should use the main gate and the side gate (by the kitchen) for entry and exit. This ensures the school grounds will not overcrowd and keeps everyone as safe as possible.

The School Day

Magic breakfast is served between 8.30am-8.45am, registration takes place a 8.55am. At the end of the day Year 5 will be dismissed at 3.00pm.  To allow for social distancing measures to be effective we request that parents line up at the door at 2m intervals.

Reading

Please support your child to develop their reading skills by hearing your child read at least 3 times a week. Talk about their book and ask questions to develop their understanding. Please ensure you sign your childs reading record each time you hear them read.

Spellings

10 spellings will be sent home every Monday and should be practiced regularly at home. Children will be tested on these each Friday in our spelling test.

Times Tables

Each child has their own login to Times Tables Rockstars. Children should access this website 3 times per week. This will be monitored online weekly. There will be a times table test every Friday

PE

In light of the current circumstances, children may come to school in their PE kit or dressed suitably for Forest school. PE will take place on Wednesday.
