Welcome to Year 3's Class Page!

Y3 staff

My name is Miss Woodward and I have the great pleasure of teaching Year 3 this year alongside Mrs Withers who will be supporting us on our learning journey. Mrs Gleave will also teach Year 3 on Thursdays.

Our class page will be regularly updated with important notices and information including any class letters that are sent home. Here you will also be able to see all the fun and exciting things we are learning in class each term.

Important Information for Year 3

Arriving and Leaving School

School will begin at 8:55am. When arriving at school please use the bungalow gate to access the playground. To allow for social distancing please leave 2 metres when lining up outside of the classroom. Magic Breakfast will be available from 8:30am-8:45am for those who wish to come along for a book and a bagel!

School will finish at 3:00pm. When collecting your child from school please use the bungalow gate. Please line up outside the classroom in 2m intervals ready to collect your child.

PE

PE lessons will take place on a Friday. Children should come to school dressed in their PE kits on this day. Currently, PE will take place outdoors so children may wish to wear something to keep them warm. Children may wear jogging bottoms or leggings and a tracksuit top. These must be plain black or navy.

Forest Schools

This year Year 3 will have the opportunity to take part in Forest Schools on a Wednesday. Your child has been placed into either Group 1 or Group 2 and will take part in Forest Schools every 2 weeks. Please check which group your child is in via the Y3 Notice Board. Children can come to school in suitable outdoor clothing on this day. We will be outside whatever the weather so waterproofs and wellies are recommended.

Reading

In Year 3 we expect the children to read at home at least 3 times per week. To support your child in developing their reading talk to them about their book and ask them questions to check their understanding. Please remember to sign your child's reading record when you have listened to them read as these will be checked daily in class.

Spellings

Children will be given spellings on a Monday and will be tested on a Friday. We encourage the children to practice their spellings at home as often as possible.

Times Tables

Children are expected to practice their times tables at least three times a week using Times Tables Rockstars, this will be regularly monitored. The children have their own login and password for this. Times tables will be tested regularly in class.

Water Bottles and Snacks

Children are allowed to bring a water bottle into school with them. This must be clearly labelled with their name and will be sent home from school with them at the end of every day. Children are also allowed to bring in a healthy snack for break time.

If you have any questions or queries then please do not hesitate to contact me by email or I am always available at the end of the school day. I look forward to working in partnership with you to help your child achieve their best.
