Hello and welcome to our Year 1 class page!

My name is Miss Bradshaw and I have the great pleasure of teaching Year 1 again this year. I am looking forward to an exciting year of learning with the children supported by Mr Jones. Mrs Gleave will also be teaching in Year 1 on Wednesday afternoons and all day Friday.

On this page you will find lots of information and pictures of the exciting things that we have been doing in class. It will also be updated regularly with class news and links to websites that you may find helpful to support your child's learning.

Should you have any questions, worries or concerns, please come and see me or email me. I look forward to working in partnership with you to help your child achieve their full potential.

Important information:

Remote Learning: We are using Google Classroom to deliver remote learning  including homework. Your child has their own login for this. Please help your child access the site, guidance can be found in the video below.

Please follow the link to access our Google Classroom: https://classroom.google.com/u/2/h

School day: Magic Breakfast will be available from 8:45am. Registration takes place at 8:55 am and school finishes at 3:00pm.

Snack: Fruit will be available at break time every day. Children may bring in a treat on a Friday (100 cals or less).

Children should bring a water bottle (with their name on) every day.

P.E: Year 1 will have P.E. lessons every  Friday. Your child should come to school dressed in their PE kit on this day. Children may wear jogging bottoms or leggings and a tracksuit top. These must be plain black or navy.

Forest School: Year 1 will have Forest School every Tuesday afternoon. Children should come to school on this day wearing suitable waterproof clothing- we will be outside whatever the weather!

Homework

Children and their parents/carers are asked to commit to the 'power of three' homework pledge. This involved children learning their weekly spellings, accessing Numbots online* and reading at home at least three times per week.

*Your child will be given a Numbots login during the Autumn term.

Reading: Please support your child to develop their reading skills by hearing your child read at least three times per week. Talk about the book with them and ask questions to develop their understanding. Please ensure you write a comment on the GoRead app each time you hear your child read in order for them to be entered into our weekly reading raffle.

Spellings: Spellings will be sent home every Monday and will be tested every Friday. Your child's spellings will link to the phonics sounds that they have learnt in previous weeks.
