Welcome to our Reception class page!

Welcome to Early Years Foundation Stage  First, let me say hello and welcome to Reception! I am thrilled to be teaching this lovely class! May I take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Mrs Strogen.I am sure the children and I will have a great time on our new learning journey supported by  Miss Kershaw.

On this page you will find lots of important information and photographs of the exciting things that we will get up to in class. It will also be updated regularly with class news and links to websites that you may find helpful to support your child's learning.

The Early Years Foundation Stage

It is divided into categories, each important for building a foundation and igniting children’s curiosity.

The three prime areas are:

•Communication and Language

•Physical Development

•Personal, Social and Emotional Development

The four specific areas are:

•Understanding the World

•Expressive Arts and Design

Reading: Children need to bring their reading book bags every day. To begin with your child will bring a story book to share. The Children will be receive a reading book by October half term.

We ask that you read with your children each night. We use an app called ‘Go Read’ to log your child’s reading at home and at school.Reading stories with your children before bed is extremely important.Modelling how to hold the book correctly and turn the pages, helps your children to become independent readers.

Home to school Learning

Home to school learning journey: This will be activity based and will celebrate your child’s learning.

Forest Schools

This takes place every Friday. The children are to come to school with leggings/jogging bottoms, waterproof clothing and wellies all labelled

PE is on a Thursday

We do PE outdoors where possible.

Children have the opportunity to join in ‘Real PE’ sessions and we also link the activities to the EYFS.
