Attendance and Punctuality

Attendance

It is important that all children, even the youngest, attend school on every occasion that it is open, except when they are too ill to attend. Casual absences for trivial reasons should be avoided. Records of unauthorised absences are forwarded to the Department for Education.

Children who are ill should be kept at home. Please contact the school on the first day of absence, stating the reason for the absence.

Government legislation makes it compulsory for all registers to be marked in such a way that 'unauthorised' absences are recorded and available for inspection by the Educational Welfare Officer.

A member of staff will be available on each door every morning if parents need to speak to someone or pass a message on. Children arrivng after 8.55am will need to enter school via the main office, where parents will be asked to sign the late book. We are required to keep records of lateness, which are recorded on the children's end of year reports.
